I have a Lowrance Elite 5, it is a year old and only been used 3 times. Today while fishing I could hear a clicking noise. The noise continued even after the motor was shut off. Any Ideas what the problem might be?

Re: Lowrance Depthfinder noise

All depth finder put out an audio Pluse. On some units you can here this pluse.
First try turning off the depth finder and just use as a GPS.
If the noise goes away then it is comming from the audio sound wave the depth finder sends out.

The noise will usually be more noticeable near the transducer.
See if the transducer is tight. If it is loose then it will make noise in our hearing range. Tighten the transducer down if on the transom. If a shoot thru hull transducer you may have to re glue. I would also pull the unit and check the pins on the back for corrosion.

Come back and let us know what you find.

I have an Eagle and if you are beside the transducer when the unit is on the transducer clicks. That the pulse for sensing the water depth. It is more noticeable when the unit is out of the water.

Make sure the transducer is tight and you try mounting it deeper in the water.
The audio ping is probably 200 kH and should be out of the range of human hearing but if the transducer is loose the movement makes a noise some can here.

Is it mounted with suction cups or something like that?

No it is screwed though the transom near the bottom of the hull.

On a total side note I left my fish finder on one day in about 6 foot of water in a heavy sifted bottom, we all jumped in to go swimming and couldn't believe how loud it was. Conditions must have been just right you feel every click from the transducer right through your body. It was really quite a sensation.

Hasn't happened since tho.... strange.
