lower unit

can some water enter the lower unit at the prop shaft seal if i hit a rock with the prop

You could pressure test it to see. What size engine are you talking about. If it is a large engine! a leaky seal would be the least of my worries.

i have a 96 johnson 115 i was doing my yearly lower unit oil change. i had about a cup of water come out. (my lake you hit many 20 foot you can't see trees still there 30 years after the lake was filled) i went and bought new plugs and gaskets refilled then put about 6 hours on the motor. next weekend checked again no water. maybe you could be that lucky.
