lower unit wont drop

repost 1981 evinrude crossflow have all 6 bolt out

it appears that shaft is salt welded to crank spline also linkage is loose
have tried wedges tapping on lower unit putting bolt back and trying again
prying looks like i will hve to cut lower unit off with unit off can i pull shaft with out pulling power head and replac lower unit are there any newer unit
tht fit that motor with different gearing woult like get performance
also would suspending power head at crank bolt help is there any way to get pb blaster to crank and spline
please help going on 8 days but wont give up

You may want to see it there are two bolts near the skeg. One holds the skeg pate and the other is on the inside after removing the plate you should see it.

I need to get my linkage undone to drop my lower unit and I fould those bolts in the book but the book does not say anything about the linkage.
