Re: lower unit won't budge

Turtle,
For what it's worth, I had a similar problem...Couldn't drop the LU so I split it at the upper mid section. I cut away the gasket between the power head and the upper mid section with a utility knife. I worked the blade in, perpendicular to the housing and tapped it all the way around. It took awhile to clean out. But, it provided a narrow slot, which I then tapped in wood shims around the perimeter. It was tedious but it worked for me. Hope that helps.:)

Re: lower unit won't budge

Turtle, the way your describing it you still have one bolt left in it. Underneath the trim tab annode at the back of the unit, just above the prop shaft there is one last bolt that needs to come out. When you look at it you'd think the annode/trim tab bolt is holding it together but there's still one last bolt there that you get to from the underside once the annode/trim tab is removed.
Double check that. If you missed it, removing it will solve your problem.

Turtle: Drawing shows a nut up under trim tab anode, AND a nut between anode hole and the vertical metal above the prop shaft as mr. schefer stated.
I missed it on mine as well. That's all have to offer. Good Luck and keep us posted. Possibly a good engine! Blue
