Re: Lower Unit washer

sorry, don't know the part number. if yer mercruiser dealer is close by just let him know what ya need. if they're like my dealer they'll have a whole bunch of them right by the register... popular item i guess...

they are all the same. however there is (best of my knowledge) 2 different kinds. one kind is blue, the other yellow. they don't look similar. the yellow ones are the new style. both are fine to use, mix and match, etc. only use one per plug though. they're easy to accidentally double up on.. (the old one don't come off and ya don't notice). i think i've gotten the yellow ones in my mercury impeller replacement kit the last 2 years. the ones i get at the counter at my dealer are the blue ones. the blue ones used to be in the kit too but seem to have been replaced by the yellow ones.

You would think so, last time I went to my Johnson dealer for a woodruff key she was looking thru parts books for 20 minutes looking for it asking me model number AND serial#, I tried to politely suggest that there are probably only 2-3 different sizes and if she just walked to show mechanic he could grab it off shelf. She never showed it to him and I left w/o the part never to return and to inform everyone around the lake that they are clueless.

Model and serial number are very important when seeking parts. Unlike car that have model years marine parts change whenever something better is needed. Many parts can change/update in mid year, so SN is important.

There were also brown fiber washers used too. Just make sure they are a more then hand tight. Like use a wrench on the screwdriver to give it a good snug. Don't need to twist it off, but good and snug.
