Lower unit replacement?

Im about to change my impellor on my 1963 johnson super sea horse 75HP.What I want to know is when I pull the lower unit will I be able to see the impellor?Is the impellor going to be on the lower unit or upper?

sam-the impeller is in the water pump housing located on the top of the lower unit-has driveshaft coming out of it-ya' can't miss it !
