lower unit question

Will a 91 evinrude 48HP lower unit fit a 1998 Johnson 40HP??

i looked it up on marine engine.com and it shows that from 89 to 91 they used gearcase number 0432280. then in 92 until 05 they used number 0435275. so if it truly a 91 then i think it wont fit. they do look the same thought so its possible it may work.
