lower unit question

hey people. Im a newbe and I got my frist bass boat it has a 120 hp force 1992 I think. well my question is the drive shaft in the lower unit stuck how do I get it out to see if the bearings are worn out? it has a ring with 4 slots on it and i tryed to get it to turn and it wont buge any help would be great. thank you so much

More info please.Why do you want to take it apart.Does it make a grinding noise or is there excessive shavings when you drain the oil?
If you want to take it apart to look at it,first get a manual.

hey jerry thnks for responding. my drive shaft wont turn at all it didnt make any noise just tryed to turn it over while fishing and it locked up i took the drain screw out to look at the fluid and lot of water came out so i know that seals r bad. but no shaveings.

once u have taken off the prop behind that there is 6 bolts or 4 bolts and 2 screws. this is pressed in and has 2 rubber seals. behind that there is 2 clips that hold the next casing in remove them and put shaft into vice. hit evenly the case with a rubber mallet and the gears will side out of the case.. the main drive shaft is held on by a nut which from memory is a 9/16 socket. undo this and the main drive will slide out of the top.. to put back together u need to remove the reverse gear and put the 2 shafts in first. then install the reverse gear and replace your seals ...hope this helps a little..im not the best with my words...
