Re: Lower unit oil won't come out top vent?

I told a buddy to try compressed air last year and he's still trying to get me to pay for his ruined shirt. Be careful but it will blow any blockage out of the way. Rick.

Heh. Now that's a good tip!

Well, I don;t know what caused the blockage, but back flushing fixed it right away, thanks guys! I started the back flush, felt a little resistance, then bam, it started flowing freely out the bottom. I started filling from the bottom and it filled right up, no forcing or anything. Then it came out the top vent like it's supposed to, nice and clean too. Very happy to have then motor winterized and ready for spring. Just an FYI, on my 115 Johnny it would click when I turned the prop, and seem like it was moving the shafts inside, so I can see that helping on thatr motor. However, when i turn the prop on my 150 Johnny there is no clicking, seems like the prop shaft is compleatly disengaged and thus didn't help at all in this situation.

Thanks again everyone for all the help!

Hey akorcovelos! Your 84 is a VRO, right? I just bought an 84 115 Johnny and have no experience with a VRO motor. How do you like it? Can you pre-mix theoil/fuel or do you have to use the separate tank? Any other suggestions?

I'll post as a new topic as well.

Thanks,

Tom Smith

no worries, my problem is solved. Mine dosn't have oil injection, so I premix at 50:1. I just bought the boat, so I've really only had the chance to run the motor for about 20 min.. It did run like a champ though, even with fouled plugs it made 45 mph. I'm confident I'll hit 47-48 mph with a good tune up and the fresh gear oil.
