lower unit lube and oil for mix

what is the correct lower unit lube to use? my manual sez to use "ep90" and for the fuel mix it sez to use "tcw" oil....I was at a local store today that is closing and they had pennzoil 100% synthetic oil that is equivalent to tcw3 for $9 a gallon and had quarts of the pennzoil 100% synthetic gear lube 75-90 api GL 5 for $1.50 a quart. price seemed too good to pass up so bought a couple gallons of oil and also several quarts of lube. will these work? also while in reading the manual it sez #1 choice for gas is leaded regular...should I be adding lead or lead substitute??? isn't the oil lubricating the inside instead of the lead? 1983 75hp chrysler.thanks

The gear oil for that motor is GL-5, you did good at that sale and the oil you got for the gas is good stuff, it will keep the smoke down abit, as to the gas, two cycles are not lead dependant, what kill those motors is the carbon in the rings, decarbon that motor before you run it this spring, run the cheapest gas in it with the best oil you can afford

when chryslers were in production unleaded fuel was pretty much a new frontier and most designs were based on leaded fuels. I seriously doubt your DNR would appreciate you running a lead substitute in your gas. Mercury released a memo saying that to compensate for the unleaded gas to change the timing from 28 degrees to 31 degrees. I dont know how much effect this will have on the motor but as mentioned dont worry about a lead additive.

Use any TC-W3 oil. GL-5 gear oil. And reg unleaded 87 octane is the best. Do not add lead. <br />And enjoy that thing.<br />Also don't forget to change the impeller at least every other season...
