Lower unit leaking

I had my impeller changed and noticed oil leaking from the 2 gear housing water drain holes in the front of the lower unit. I took it back to the shop and they said they didn't notice any leakage and blah blah blah. Anyone know what would gear lube to leak from this area.

I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, but in case anyone might know it's a 2000 305 Mercruiser.
