Lower Unit Interchange

My Evinrude 1985 year 140 HP motor（”E140TLCOS“） lower unit broken. Could I replace it by the lower unit of Motor model "E140TRLCTE" 1983 year 140 HP? There are one thousand kilometers distance between these two motors.
What is your secret to search interchange lower unit? Is there any interchange list for my lower unit ”E140TLCOS“? for exmaple, Any 120/140 Johnson or Evinrude lower unit will fit from 1985 (large lower unit) to 1989(small lower unit) will fit, correct?

As your instruction, I have filtered out all Racerone message through advance search keywords "Racerone" and "Interchange" as the screenshot. Gearcase part numbers are different on each motor so I would guess it's a no.

Your 140 could have come with either the large or small gear case which both have the same gear ratio. The 1983 will be the small gearcase but will bolt up as DS length is the same.

I'm having this same issue with my 1993 Johnson 140 ecean runner, any help on what other legs will fit? I can't find one

For a few years, when first introduced, the 120/140 used a larger case and the Props that were used on the V6s. After a couple yrs OMC went back to the Smaller V4 case as part of the 'Fixes' to reduce some Issues that they were having with the 120/140's Acceleration. By the late 90s the 130 once again used a Larger case.
