Lower unit fill plug seal

I was wondering if lower unit fill plug seal part number 8M0082880 is a directional seal

No is is not but if you are asking because you have a leak and you installed a new gasket, you may not have removed all of the old gasket.

The reason I ask was it is completely rubber coated on one side the other side is only partial rubber coated I put it in with the complete rubber side facing the lower unit

Are they those yellow rubber coated ones? I personally don’t like those. Had a couple leak, even after the first use. The blue paper ones never an issue. BUT, with any drain screw you replace it every time you drain the lube.

No there the blue ones part number 8M0082880 they are metal with rubber coated fit drain screw better then the blue gasket type

Not in my opinion. Them rubber coated metal ones leak quit often . But that’s just my 25 years of experience talking.
