My fathers boat motor was rebuilt and ran great then last year the fogging oil part broke this part was replaced but shortly after the boat began to loose power it seemed to surge and die gas had been spraying allover under the cover when the part broke my guess is there is debres in the fuel filter from the broken part orthat the air filter became clogged after being sprayed with oily gas note that the oil mixing system was removed so premixed gas could be used this was done at the repair shop

Re: low power

First of all, welcome to iboats. I don't know what part was broken off that you are talking about but it sounds like your carb(s) need to be rebuilt. You probably have some junk in there. It is a pretty simple job especially if you get an OEM manual. We need the model number of your dad's engine so we know what year and horsepower it is.

Re: low power

I'll bet he means the shrader valve on the primer solenoid. The cover is probably cracked. Kinda common. And dangerous to run it like that.

Re: low power

You are probably right Dale but I don't see how fogging oil can break anything off. I break stuff off but the tools/supplies I use never do.
