lost power 85 evinrude 30 hp

fishing on fathers day, running wide open, every thing perfectly fine, never sounded better. all of a sudden the speed started droping but still running perfectly smooth then it stalled like it ran out of gas. gas and plugs good. when i started it up it will only run at about 25% throttle, perfectly smooth. anything more it just shuts off like you pulled the kill switch. also i should add a few days prior when i was getting ready for the fishing trip i found what looked like a plastic thumb tack in the engine compartment. please help and thank you for your time.

Fuel, air, ignition, timing.<br />Gotta have all four. <br />Did you try pumping the bulb? Another thing to try is when the engine is falling down, give the primer switch a real quick bump and see if the engine picks up momentarily. <br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

I did pump the bulb and it did no good. When i looked at it this weekend and started it up the problem was gone, I had it hooked to the garden hose so i only ran it for about a minute, but i did open it up and it never sounded better. I forgot to add in my first post that this is the second time this has happened. runs great till it gets hot and then loses 3/4 of its power?? plugs and gas lines look good. I know its something simple but i cant figure it out. thaks for any help.

i had the same problem with my motor,so i took my carbs of and cleaned them,replaced all fuel lines and replaced my primer bulb.now it runs better than before. hope you figure the problem out good luck.
