Loss of power

I just bought a 1998 25EH from a state surplus auction. I checked it out, cleaned it up, new plugs, fresh fuel, and it fired up and ran great at home. It looks like a new motor. The skeg is not even scratched. But, the starter and prop was removed and did show a few signs that it had beed used. I took it to the lake and ran great the first few hundred yards. I started losing power at full throtle and steadily got slower through about 3 mile trip. By the end it would just run above an idle. About half way I did stop to squirrel hunt for 4 hours. It would start just fine, just not rev up. I can't find any leaks in the fuel lines. I just wanted to check with the gurus here before I dive in. Are there any common problems with this engine or just my typical luck? The only thing that appears to be out of place is the "primer" button on the carb will squirt a litte fuel out. Thanks in advance...Jeff

Re: Loss of power

Not at all. I tried the primer button and and the squeeze bulb. No change at all while running. As cheap as a fuel pump kit is I'll try that, and clean the carb while I'm at it. Thanks.
