hi everyone; mercruiser 165 hp model #21653 serial #3465185. 6 cylinder model. The engine was tuned up this year with new ignition, wires , plugs, coil, oil, gear lube, everything else lubed. New coupler, and fuel filter. The boat ran very well. Shifter works great forward and reverse. Ran a great cruising spped at 25 miles an hour at around 2600rpm. It trolled great at 600 rpm. The boat started to stutter and lose speed and power. If i stopped it in nuetral and revved it up i could get it to run again but it continued to happen. We were lucky to make it back to the dock. Any suggestions on what to check would be greatly appreciated.

Re: loss of acceleration

Sounds like a possible fuel supply or quality issue.

Fuel filter, fuel pressure check, cleaning the check valve on the fuel tank pickup & cleaning /rebuilding the carb woud be on the list of possible remedies.
