Re: loosing spark

I don not think it is the neutralswitch, it just cut out power to the startersolenoid. What kind of distributer do you have? With points or with preamplifier eay? If preamplifier, it can be the issue. Electroniccomponents are sensetive from heat and even more if it is old. If you have points change the condenser it is also sensetive from heat when it gets old.

Also check under the back of the flywheel. The wires pass there and sometimes they rub on the underside, wear the insulation, and short when vibration makes them touch the wheel. Engine stops, cools, circuit breaker resets, and it will start and run again.--for a while until it happens again.

This is not likely since you already tried changing the power pack, but is worth checking anyway.

Due to slop in the cables, sometimes the neutral switch is not centered and the starter will not engage. The easiest cure for that is to move the controls as you are doing. However, once running a stalling problem has nothing to do with the neutral interlock. You need to check the wiring, distributor, and the ignition switch for that problem.

CDI is the aftermarket manufacter art.nr. 135-4048. I know maxrules.com has it for 130 bucks, Franz Marine (FranzMarine.com) may have factory made but also CDI made. There are more out there that has it. Goolge on CDI 135-4048 and you may got many hits.
