Might have to join Glastron Owners club or something like that on Facebook and see what they come up with . No information on Fiberglassics / library section . Built after 73:hull ID # would be etched on upper right hand corner of transom.

How'd you ID it as a Glastron? Never seen a Glastron built that way.

Canadian/Europe?

I was being a coward with my conviction and waiting for others to post…but I have to say that I’m not totally convinced that’s actually a Glastron at all. Although I’ll also admit I’m not 100% sure. It’s not like any Glastron I know of, unless it’s been adapted a little from original. The closest thing I’m aware of that’s similar would be a skiflite or v142…but they are different top sides and lower hull too.
But on the other hand…I’m also aware that Glastron were also known for doing collaborations with other makers over the years too. They also allowed others to build boats under license too. But none I know of looks like this one.
Unless…(can you tell I’m back and forth with this ?) can I ask if it has an almost squared off or blunt bow top deck ? Can’t quite tell from the pics.
I’m definitely interested to find out either way though. Keep us posted on things !

I'm going out on a limb here BUT...I would call that a Glastron based on the striping. Because who in their right mind would add a Glastron factory stripe to a non-Glastron boat? It just doesn't add up to anything but.

A quick google search turned up similar looking boats from the late 50's into the early 60's BUT they mimic'd cars of the day and had big swooping fins in the back. I'd guess mid-late 60's as the finned cars also disappeared during that time period.

As to model...no clue.

Scott,

It comes awfully close to the '61 Fireflight. Take the rag top off and add a custom hardtop.

take a closer look at the '61 fireflight (images below taken from https://boats-from-usa.com/glastron/glastron-fireflite-13823)

completely different hull, bow and transom.

OP's boat is newer than 70's based on the hull design and rub rail.

I dont think its a Glastron. I think its a European boat with a glastron sticker.

It does look more closely like some early Stejcraft (Australian) or Swiftcraft (UK) with a modified half cabin.

Looking at size of boat I would think 75-80 hp would be what your looking for , based on the transom being solid

As for engine size. I don’t think that looks any more than 14ft long. Surely back in those days, you wouldn’t be putting a 85hp anywhere near that ? More like 50 at most ?

They dropped 100s on the 14' models , don't remember the model . Did not have the weight that this one will with the hard top . My 15' / 400 lb Power Cat has a 150hp Tower on it . Better to go bigger than put a 50-60 on it and then put 3 people in it and it can't get out of it's own way . To each his own.

I get you. Totally. But just looking at that hull…to me..it’s not a boat that wants or should ever have a big engine on it. Apart from all that…perhaps it may not be too responsible to suggest anything out with the sensible realms, without knowing the experience, ability or capability of the owner or boat too, for that matter. Apart from that…the transom on her has likely seen a half century or more go by. I can imagine her originally sporting a lovely old Evinrude 35 or similar.
Not to say I don’t love a big engine on a boat…but on a boat that can take it perhaps.
