I have a 2008 4 hp mercury.I want to put the 6 hp carb on it and a search turned up a lot of questions but little follow up from people that have done it.I have a 9' boston whaler skiff that with my 2 little kids aboard goes about 8mph and me alone about 10 mph.Can I honestly expect a 2 hp increase from this carb swap? Thanks guys.

Re: Looking for results of the 4-6 hp Tohatsu conversion.

HI!

+++++++++++++++++++upgrade from 4 to 6 hp+++++++++++++++++++

I didt it myself ( with the great help of this forum, of course - many thanks Tohatsu Guru!! ) last year.
Replaced the carb and propeller, added 12ltr tank to my Mercury 4hp/2008
Result was very good , but finally I have decided to go for even more power.
Brand new Tohatsu 9.8 hp 4 stroke is sitting in my garage right now!!
I can carry/install heavier OB myself , it is only 24 lbs more.

My quicksilver 270 with new engine and 2 adults/1 kid on board goes on plane easily, top speed abt 20mph on calm water.
