Newbie here.....purchased used MAC 26....scraped and sanded hull. Was going to paint but bottom is in such great shape that I'd just like to seal the gelcoat. Is there a clear product, sealant, wax, etc. that will do the trick???

Re: Looking for Gelcoat Sealant

Welcome to the forums! Im still new to boat restoration, still working on my first restoration.. but il put in my two cents until one of the experts proves me wrong haha... If you have any pictures those would help alot. Did you only do a light sanding? gelcoat is generally quite thin 20mils thin. Gelcoat is the outer layer that protects your boat no type of sealant is generally used beyond that.. A good wax for Gelcoat is probably what your looking for they are available at most marine stores. Unless your talking about repairing blemishes? What kind of shape is it in?

Gelcoat does not require a Sealant. Buff and Polish. I'd recommend this...

Re: Looking for Gelcoat Sealant

Morning....thanks for the quick reply. Sanded just enough to get color out of original bottom paint. Hope I didn't go too thin. Some minor blemishes but have gotten good real quick with gelcoat. Will think about painting next season but would like to get in water ASAP. Thanks....
