im frustrated at the seemingly lack of choices in buying options to get a trailer

it seams like whoever sells you a boat has a gun to your head to buy the trailer from them at the price they want to charge you.

im looking to buy a 17ft aluminum jon boat but every time I try to look around to see what choices there are to buy trailers all I see available to buy is magic tilt at the boat dealers. calling around I don't find any price differences as if they are reading off the same price chart.

I even went to the magic tilt website to see if I could buy direct but it just sends you to local boat dealer websites.

does anyone know a galvanized boat trailer dealer that sells trailers direct to customers? I figure maybe a non boat selling trailer dealer has more of an incentive to give me a better deal or do a better job of rigging the trailer the way I want it to be rigged, a boat dealer does not need to give you a deal because they know you have no other option then to buy from them.

boat dealers keep trying to give me a small trailer made for 14-16 ft boats with a longer tongue added to "make it fit" a 17ft boat and if I insist on a real 17ft trailer "oh that's a special custom built item" $$$$

can you help me out here guys?

I need a galvanized mill channel 17-19ft single axle 1200-1500lb trailer that's at least 55" wide between the fenders, tire size/number of lugs does not matter

if you just know the name of a boat dealer that is fair with trailer prices even if your not buying a boat, please let me know that too.

I live in laplace so it needs to be within 50 miles of new Orleans please

Inventory - The Boat Yard - 6440 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA 70072

????

From looking at a few online ads, looks like trailers a pretty expensive in you neck of the woods.

Now if you were near Chicago, I could put you on a 18' galvanized trailer, new old stock, for $995.

Ahlstrand Marine - New Boat Trailers: Karavan 2200 lbs. Galvanized Bunk Trailer

yep, the boat yard is where I looked but they want high retail prices for rusty trailers or if its in good condition $300 less then a new one would cost. they are like a used car lot so no deals to be found there.

as an example, if this trailer was at the boat yard they would be asking $850-$950 http://usedboattrailers.ahlstrand-m...r-painted-bunk-boat-trailer.html#.UkxTML4o7L8

now in your link, that's what i'm looking for and the price is very good

its tough because there is no competition around here for trailers, if you get someone to custom build it they cant match the price or quality so the only brand you can get is magic tilt and they can charge whatever they want and they know you have to pay it.

I am willing to drive a few hours to get it but Chicago is a little too far lol.

I don't see any karavan dealers near me
