Looking for a 1-din head unit with a retractable screen.

the screen must be retractable. I do not want to see it all the time, only when I need navigation.

need true satellite navigation, AM/FM/Satellite radio.

would like hands-free for phone calls.

most of the new head units rely on android play or apple play connection. however many of the places I drive to does not have cell service. so the navigation needs to be satellite (garmin).

the old KVT product from Kenwood would have worked, however the last of the ones I liked were discontinued years ago.

was looking at secret audio or hidden audio, however none have navigation, nor do they take camera inputs. Need the camera inputs as I will be adding front and rear cameras to avoid parking lot bump stops when the wife drives it.

alternately, I am looking at hiding a remote screen behind a flip-down cover on top the dash and driving the screen in/out with a small servo. in that case, it will most likely be a wet-sounds meridian system tied in with a garmin screen and a custom splash

any and all suggestions welcome

You get this figured out would be great. Love my Garmin but no interface with everything else, and OEM is a crap shoot

Probably looked at it is the Garmin DriveCam 76 with front and rear cams

Checks most of the boxes but not all

Wonder if contacting Garmin would gain any further insight?

Pioneer AVH has a single din BUT the current models rely on Apple Car Play or Android for NAV. I'm finding this to be more of the norm these days.

You might find an older unit used that includes the onboard NAV. Probably something about 5-10 years old.

Same I am finding. However after getting lost in the south west because there are no cell towers I vowed to never rely on cell based anything.

Looking like it may be a dedicated Garmin screen with a network link to a hidden audio head unit. Have more tech questions to the OEMs

Tried the 5-10 year old units in the past. Currently about 33% success rate.

The single din format is getting harder to find. More likely than not because only the oldies but goodies still use that format. Most are now double din or larger.

Good luck in your search. You find something let me know as my Trans Am is due for an upgrade - has an older Pioneer CD/AM/FM I installed in the map pocket, 4 channel amp in the trunk and (2) 6x9's in the package tray.
