Hey guys, i've got a thread on here where I was doing a restoration on my 89 bass tracker and everything was going well untill the other day when I saw the boat was taking on water like crazy. Saw my motor has pushed almost all the way through the transom and is now pretty much just hanging on to the deck. So long story short, took the boat up to see how much it would cost and thats when i found out EVERYTHING is rotten in this boat and was quoted 5,000+ to repair it.

So on the hunt for a new boat and found a 97 nitro savage 896 that looks to be in good shape. Checked it out today and the floors feel solid and I tapped around inside where the gas tank is and everything is solid as well and the body of the boat is in great shape. Paint and gel coat is smooth and very shiny. Hull has a few scratches from pulling it up in the sand, but i'm not worried about that, I can buff those out no problem. Carpets look good, it really just needs a good vacuum. Owner says its been garage kept, and selling it cause it never gets used. Said its been used once in the last year and had the impeller/ gear oil changed last year so to be safe that would be 1st on my list of things to do. Said its got new batteries and new tires on the trailer (big whoop). I didnt ask to see the title, but plan on going back up to see it run and if everything sounds good was gonna make an offer and go for a ride if he'll come off the price.

My question is what else could I look for? Weird noises when its running and obviously check all the switches and lights, let it run for like 15 min, check trailer lights and what else? I've also got an HIN number off the boat, would anybody be able to look it up for me and tell me the history on the boat? I was told its been in the owners family for awhile and has been sold between the Dad and brothers

Thanks for the help
