I have a 97 mariner 9.9 fourstroke outboard that is not running. My mechanic says it needs a new CDI unit. And neither of us can find it anywhere. I have looked up numerous sites and found the part, but when i place the order, it gets denied. Because this part is apparently discontinued.
I dont know what else to do or how to find this part. It would be great if anyone could give me advice or answers to this question, please help.
The CDI unit part # 825667T

have you tried CDIElectronics? They make lots of electrical parts (not OEM) for boat motors.

Yes I did try CDI Electronics and talked to a salesman. They could not find anything that could replace the part # that I gave them.
I was thinking of looking up the part# for a 9.9 Mercury CDI unit. Do u think that a Mercury CDI would work in a Mariner outboard?

As far as I know, the difference between Merc and Mariner was paint color. You might look on the crowleymarine web site and match up some major parts between Merc and mariner to test that theory, for your motor.
