Re: Longhorns!!!

Oh, and as for Young... he's a great collage quarterback. His style of play won't win championships as a quarterback in the NFL.

Leinart on the otherhand is probably a prototype of an NFL QB. But, I despised his comments at the end of the game. He showed no class.

True class was the meeting between Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden at the end of Tuesday nights game. That spoke volumes of the character of those coaches and the respect they held for each other.

KaGee,
I didn't watch the postgame. I did like Tyme2Fish and crashed hard afterwards. What did Leinart say?

I agree with you about true class. I even said the exact same thing to my boys after the PSU game.

AK Chappy

In a cocky attitude said said they were the better team, that "just didn't get it done". His whole demeanor was arrogant and unsportsmanlike. I forget the rest of his comments.

For that matter Coach Carroll "said" all the right things afterwards, but the look on his face and body language didn't match what he was saying. A complete 180 from the previous night's post game.

I guess USC believed all the post game hype about how great they were and felt they were entitled to the championship by default.

Yeah the post game comments by USC made it seem like USC didnt play as well as they could have, and that Texas playing their hearts out wasnt the reason they lost. POOR sportsmanship to say the least.

Going for it on 4th down at practicaly midfield didnt help you much USC.

Talent wise he is WAAAAAY better. Very similar in stature and style of play.

JB- I hear you on the heisman thing.....if he sticks around he should get it, and be number one in next years draft. (prolly the only thing that would keep him at Texas). Personaly Id draft him ahead of Leinhart........For me his (Leinart) stock dropped a little tonight with that last play and his lack of clock awareness. Still a great COLLEGE QB though.
Hold on there .pony.! Roger the Dodger is an icon around here, buddy, and you can't be better than him just by playin a little college ball! :)

BTW, did you know he was the fourth junior to win the Heisman?

Yeah I did know that he was the 4th junior to win the Heisman. I know he is an icon in your parts, just as Bart Starr is here.................

What I said in that post was in response to the comparison between Young and Cunningham..........I was in no way comparing him to Roger Staubach.

I felt the same thing at the time. A punt would have made the come back more difficult. The results may have been the same, who knows, but statistically it would have been harder.

That was their arrogance and disrespect on display.

Re: Longhorns!!!

I am glad Texas pulled it out - was rooting for them and think they have been the better team all along. Young is a great QB with great awareness.

In watching the game I couldn't help but wonder how either team would fare against Penn State's defense. I think PSU could have held both teams in check a little more than we saw last night. But I don't think their offense would have had enough to beat Texas (especially with Tony Hunt hurt - we missed his blocking). My final poll is:
1. Texas
1.5. PSU
3. Ohio State
4. USC
5. West Virginia

Hook 'em Horns. It was a great game.

I can understand why USC thought they should win. It was almost a home game for them.

My big question about the whole thing is, where is Techno? :p

Same question, Kelton, I guess USC wasn't the only one that didn't gitrdone. ;)
Sounds like a lot of afterwhist players. If you knew how much I dispise USC you would have known I would have paid for the privilege of seeing them beat. Too bad, y'all didn't have Texas and 7 when the bets were being placed.
:Laughingallthewaytothebank: :D

I must take my hat off to The Long Horns. They played a great game.

Of course we could discuss the missed call on Texas first touchdown. Great game Texas.

Oh by the way I am a partime USC fan.

Re: Longhorns!!!

As a west coaster fan, I was just wondering, WHERE THE HELL WAS THE SC DEFENSE. Was it so hard to see that sc only had to cover a couple players on Texas, I mean, how hard would it have to have said, "you two or even one free safety(ies)" stay home and mirror that guy, he is pretty damn great coming out of the backfield. After the first wave of rushing defenders, the defensive backfield was wide open.

I'm not trying to understate the performance of young, but hell, it looked like everytime he ran, it was something new to sc.
I also realize that Young broke a lot of tackles.

Loved the game, the Penn game was just as fun to watch. (dang kickers).

Great game.

Spud

Re: Longhorns!!!

How could Penn State with no offence beat either of these two teams? Ranking them no.2 requires a lot of imagination. ;)

Re: Longhorns!!!

Awww, agitator, PSU has an offense - they just had 2 months off, were rusty, lost a great blocker, and faced an awfully fast defense in Florida State. I don't think Texas or USC's defenses were as good as FSU's the night before.

Not too much imagination required!

Apples to Oranges really........no way to tell unless they played each other. Personally I thought Penn State, hio State, and Wisconsin all played some great football.
