Longer axle???

Would increasing the oal of axle cause any problems if the spring center is the same.. one of my spindles was pretty chewed up on passenger side so I'm gonna replace it.. the current axle had oal of 54" and the new is 56 1/4" with both having same spring center of 38.5".. I'll have to bump out my fenders but curious if itll effect how it pulls???

It will tow just fine. It won't change how it tows.

Normally the springs (leaf springs right?) are held in place on the axle by a raised button. These are located in the same place on the new axle as the old one?

Yes the holes for the spring center will be the same just longer oal and longer hub face to hub face. Kind of figured itd be good but thought I'd ask being first trailer overhaul...
