Long time lurker- and finally bought a j16 CS.need some help on the front deck.

Hey guys!,

Hope everyone is well and are preparing for summer! I recently picked up a j16! However, I need to shorten the front deck by about a foot. How would I go about doing that? I was considering cutting it just before the rolled edge but am unsure if I'm going in the right direction. The other thought- is too build one from knotless pinewood (but I don't know how to make the "tabs" on the outside for it to bolt to the gunnels.

Any help is appreciated!
