I have a long shaft Evinrude 88' 25hp.
My transom is a standard 16" I picked up a
transom riser from a locate marine shop and installed it. Assuming the anti-ventalation plate is the most lower one on the shaft, I measured it and it is still about 2 to 2.5" below the bottom of the boat after the riser was installed. The riser brought it up about 2 to 2.5". I'm assuming this is ok as the transom riser is designed to raise a standard transom for a long shaft motor. Any reassurance would be great....

Re: Long Shaft

Not that it's the end of the world that it's not even or slightly above the transom, but it will affect performance for sure. It really should be higher...

The anti-ventalation plate is the most lower one though right?

Re: Long Shaft

RB thanks, that diagram is perfect.
So my cavitation plate is sitting about 2.5" to 3"
below the boat. I guess I should have a new transom riser made hey? If I don't will I notice a big difference?

Re: Long Shaft

I stopped over to my local marine dealer over my lunch and explained the concern I have with the cavitation plate sitting 2.5" too low. They told me to try it the way it is, said that it shouldn't be a problem. He said it will plane faster if anything. The only thing he said I might notice is it may turn quicker....
Whata ya think?
