I have a 1976 25 HP Evinrude motor that is currently a long shaft. Since I have put it on a small fishing boat I would like to make it a short shaft. Can anyone tell me what to do or is this something for a dealer? Thank you in advance for your time and energy.

you could try something like a jack plate. or a fixed plate that doesnt move up or down.

Conversion from long to short gets kindof expensive. Requires driveshaft and shiftshaft replacement. And if you don't have a removeable 5" midsection extention, you will need a new lower unit.

It will run you around $200 get a manual jackplate from<br />cmc, bobs machine or any other company that makes them. This will let you raise the engine 5 inches and your good to go.

Go with Jackplate/Offset mount. CMC $111.00 for nonadjustable. $157.00 for manual adjust. I just put one on my boat this weekend and it makes a world of difference.
