Long and short

Did Merc make a long and short shaft of the 84' 115 inline and if so , How long is each one. I think there was both a 20'' and a 25'' but not sure. Also this measurement is taken from the anticav plate to the ? . Thanks

Short shaft is a 15" length. Long shaft is 20". Merc made some shorties in the seventies, but I am not sure when they stopped making them. You might look on the Crowleymarine.com site and check all the models for the '84 model year.

The lengths are measured from the anti-ventilation plate to the transom mount bracket where it sits on the transom.

A 20" shaft motor mounted on a boat with a 20" transom should place the anti-ventilation plate even with the bottom of the boat, approximately.

I think some of the smaller HP motors come in the 25" shaft size for use on sail boats as auxilliary motors.
