This seems to be a good opportunity to put yourself in the place of the individuals you and the rest of your hunting party were trying to kill.

...this statement is positively chilling to read. I wonder if the local salmon and bee population feels the same way as Miss Alicia?

I'm glad of the fact that this young lady is recovering well, is not completely devastated through this and (at least sounds like) has a good family behind her.

I generally hunt deer with a .220 Swift, a 6mm, or a .243. Occasionally I will go to a 7mm or a .270, but usually the smaller calibers. Not what you would call outstanding bear guns. However, the .44 mag that is often strapped to the side is there for just such emergencies ...

Several years ago a co-worker was fishing in Yakutat with a bunch of others and a bear got real threatening. He took it down with a 357 (mag).....

I would be a little leery of using a 357, but I wouldn't hesitate to use my (Pedersoli) Sharps 45-120

Cartridges of The World says "the 45-120 is suitable for any game anywhere on the planet" !

I got some revenge for that young lady last night....... went to a friends house and ate a nice Bear steak which we BBQ'd

That young lady should write up here story and I bet Field and Stream would publish it.

That's a little harsh. It could have happened to anyone at any time who just took a walk in the woods. Get in a fender bender and never drive a car again???
