I'm doing a restoration of my 94 Lund Angler II and I"m having a problem finding the right parts.

I'm trying to replace the overflow and drain hoses on the system and they don't appear to be "normal" sizes.

The drain hose is a 1 1/4 hose with a .125 wall on it. It has a white nylon rib going through it. It looks like it could be a Shield series 149 livewell hose. The use is definitely below the waterline. I can't seem to find anybody that will sell me the 1 foot that I need.

The other hoses are the overflow hoses (1 on each side to drain out through a thru-hull). This hose appears to be 1 7/8 with a .150 wall on it. This hose also has a white nylon rib and looks identical to the livewell drain hose except for the larger diameter and thicker wall. This is definitely above the waterline. I can't seem to locate this hose in the Teleflex marine catalog. Perhaps someone else made both hoses. The more that I look at this hose, the less sure that I am that it is a full 1 7/8 in diameter.

I would also like to replace all of the thru-hulls that are in the livewell system. There are 5 in total.

One gets used with the livewell drain. This connects to the 1 1/4 hose and fills a hole about 1.40" in diameter. It is black plastic and a drain plug gets inserted into the thru-hull to keep water in the livewell during use. Again, it is below the waterline.

The other 4 thru-hulls are used in the overflow system. There are 2 on each side of the boat. One in the boat hull itself, and one in the side of the livewell. These are connected via the 1 7/8" hose and are inserted into a 2" hole. The interesting part of this system is that the actual barbs where you would normally attach the hose have been sawn off at the factory. The hose actually goes on the threads. Taking a measurement at the threads is just over 1.8". In order to get the hose sealed, it seems that it needs to be slightly smaller than this. I am a little reluctant to cut the hose in the middle to get a better measurement at this stage because I'm having so much trouble trying to find a suitable replacement.

Any ideas on actual part numbers and suppliers for these items? The Lund dealer hasn't been much help and these seem to be industry parts.

Thanks,
Stan

Personally I would not use the ribbed hose,.....Water doesn't flow as well,...

I'd just go to the hardware store and find smooth sided hose, Like you would use for a washer dryer and "let er' buck",...

OK, the MPI 1 1/4 hose would work. Can anybody supply a source where I can get a 1 foot length?

Also, on the second link, the only hose that goes above 1 1/2" is the series 148 and I can't even find which sizes it's available in. I also only need 2 feet of that.

I really need a retail source for by the foot hose on these since I need so little of it.

As far as the walls go, the nylon rib is embedded in the hose and the walls are quite smooth. Both on the inside and outside. Not perfectly smooth, but almost. Also, the uses are overflow through 1 7/8" which isn't a problem at all. And draining the entire livewell where I'm not that worried about the speed at which it drains.

I'm also looking for very high quality since all of this is going to get essentially buried pretty deeply into the boat. It's going below decks not intended to be removed without great effort.

Either way I would check the hardware stores/ menards or whatever in your area,...Most sell hose by the foot, And I'm sure you can find quality hose for what you need,...

Is that stuff rated to go beneath the decking on my boat and last for 30+ years?
Why does it seem to be so hard to find the correct marine hoses?

I cannot speak to the ratings/longevity/quality of hoses, but depending on your location, it could be very difficult to find marine grade hoses...especially if you want a size that is not "common"...

Even though I live in a place where marine supplies are plentiful...certain grades of marine hoses are usually only used by boat builders, and the average marine supply house probably can't afford to buy every size, since they would have to buy bulk rolls...and after seeing the price for some of this stuff, you can well imagine that the small shops couldn't justify the expense...

You might consider, if you can find the quality/rating type hose you want in a more common size that is available in or near your area, whether or not it might make financial sense to change over to the appropriate sized fittings for that size hose...

Mail/internet order may be your best bet, but you will have to pay the shipping charges...

You could also try places like ebay, amazon, nextag, etc...

Best of luck,

I can't see why washer outlet hose or dishwasher outlet hose would not work,...

For some reason I think the title "marine grade" in this case is just an excuse to charge more money,..
