When I switch on my livewell pump, the water rushes in and then gets drained out. It never gets above an inch or two of water. So my instinct tells me that I should fill it with water, then turn on the pump to maintain the full well of circulating water. Is that correct? Als, should I keep the pump running while I have fish in there or should I switch it on periodically?

Any advice is welcome.

Depends on the type of livewell. Is there a little rubber donut in the bottom? if so you should have a tube that plugs into that that will let the water drain when it gets to the top of the tube....

Re: livewell how to

like the last post it should have a tube that sticks up in the livewell so when the water reaches a certain lvl to keep it from overflowing but wen u are done with the livewell u can pull the tube out and the wole livewell will drain but it appears that if u have this setup the tube is either not in or missing in that case u can measure the hole and cut a peice of pvc to work as its =.

hope this helps:)

The livewell pump won't draw water while the boat's under way, so turn it off. Otherwise its a good idea to run it while you have fish in there. I usually run mine off & on throughout the day, hot days I leave it on most all the time - in the winter not so much. Cold water holds more oxygen. Or, on/off timers are available for intermittent operation.
