30 amps

30 amps

Hi, I am going to be moving onto a 3207 this winter near Toronto and was wondering if 30 amps is enough power for heaters and everything...the boat only has 30 amp....if it isnt enough, what are my options?
thanks in advance

Re: 30 amps

a single space heater can use 15 amps.... The options are either change over to a 50 amp 220 service OR add a second 30 amp service..... could be done very easily with it's own breaker panel and a few new outlets wired and installed

Good luck with that.

I sure wouldn't put a propane fueled oven below deck on my boat.

Above deck and well ventilated -- maybe.

Re: 3207 oven

Propane, alcohol, and electric stoves/ovens have been on boats for years and years without issues. Don't be afraid to install and use it as you need, just be sure the installation is done properly and safely.

However, I would think the cabin/galley would be limited on a 32' and I wonder how much space you would lose by installing an oven? Is the oven a necessity or could you get by with a larger, countertop style toaster oven? Our boat doesn't have an oven and we haven't missed it yet. Just thinking out loud...

shrink wrapping will trap all the moisture and condensation inside.

Ayuh,... We can only offer General advice,...
The specific issues yer addressing need the services of a Pro, due to the safety issues with electricity...

Re: Liveaboard Mods

BTW 50 amp service is more than 3 times the power of 30 amp..... 50 amp service is 220v and is two legs of 110v at 50 amps each.... makes 100 amps of 110v

As stated before You CAN also just add another 30 amp service..... That would be MUCH less expensive as you would not have to replace your current electrical panel with all new ($$$$$) stuff

Re: Liveaboard Mods

I have heard the big challenge is dealing with the humidity, i imagine a de humidifier would help, and also lots of vents installed....it must be possible as lots of people do the same in Toronto...i was just poking around and seeing if there was any advice...thank you
