Live well hose problem on Javelin Boat

Last time out, my Javelin 350 Bass Boat sank in the shallows as I was backing the trailer down to pick up the boat. The live well discharge/overflow hose had separated from the hull penetration fitting during the high speed run from my last fishing spot, allowing the boat to quickly fill with water and sink, fortunately in less than a foot of water. The boat is a 1994 model, well out of warranty, as well as the Manufacturer having gone out of business years ago. The rubber hose connecting the live well to the hull penetration fitting appears to have shrunk, resulting in the hose pulling off of the fitting. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, how was it solved? Recommendations? I am concerned about a repeat of the problem in deep water.

I don't have live wells but I always have all my hoses double clamped as that is the USCG recommendation. You could also check and replace hoses that are getting old on a regular basis. Make it part of your maintenance checks. I would also have an automatic bilge pump.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... It's a 20 Year old boat,... things break, 'n wear out....

Put a New hose on it, 'n Inspect any others there are.... Replace those needin' it...
