Re: Little Help please

if you dont know when impeller was last changed... change it...consider it cheap insurance.
you don't state year, or if that model has a pee hole (indicator) if it does and water isnt coming out try a bit of mig wire, paperclip, or trimmer line (you get the idea) and probe the hole....for some reason bugs think it is a great place to either make a nest or crawl into and die.

also with the engine running you should be able to touch the head and side of the cylinders without burning hand.... enough to be able to lay hand on for at least a quick count of 3 to 5 without fear of a burn.

if your running on muffs water comes out differently, if your running in a bucket or barrel or test tank, it is important that the water level at least cover the water pump completely and better for proper indication that the motor be immersed to the normal operating level in the water.

Re: Little Help please

are you sure it is gear oil? These are 2-stroke motors and unburnt fuel/oil mixes with the water and can appear to be a thick oil, This scared me the first few times i saw it on my 115, but it wasnt gear oil. I can tell my dipping my finder in it and smelling it. IF it is fuel-smelly then its jsut unburnt fuel/oil mix from the exhaust, if it smells bad (like gear oil) then it is gear oil (duh). Note : if your gear oil smells really bad..change it. IF you just got this motor then changing the gear oil should be high on your priorities.

What does your lowerend lube look like? Milky? If theres not water in the lower end, your seals probably ok. do a pressure and vacumm test on the lower end before you start changing seals for no reason.

Re: Little Help please

Most times water intrusion is due to the two seals on the vent and drain plugs being compromised. They only cost a few cents each and should be changed when you change your lube, normally once a year. If the plugs were just put back in after changing lube, chances are that's the problem. My 02
