linkage settings

Hey everyone,<br />i have o 1998 force 50hp on my pontoon boat. My brother-in-law changed the settings on the linkage now the boat wont give me HI RPM when in gear. it is fine in (N). can anyone help me with the settings so i can get out on the river again, and so i dont have to lose a borther-in-law. Iam ready to take him swimming with the fish (if u know what i mean) any HELP would be great Thanks,<br /> lee

Really hard to know what he messed with.<br />Did he mess with the timing cam?<br />the carb?<br />the throttle and shift cables?<br /><br /><br />Take him swimming.<br />Use his life insurance money to buy a new motor.

I'm in a similar pickle (without a b-in-law).
I'm only getting 4000 rpm on throttle max throw, but looking at the throttle cable it's hard to see where to start, to get the extra travel.
I have an 85Hp 1989 with Morse control (late model according to Clymer).
Looking inside the box there are 3 holes on the throttle arm. My cable is attatched to the closest to the pivot point - can I improve my situation by moving to one of the more extreme holes?

The manual probably explains all this but unfotunately I haven't deciphered where yet.

Your going to have to be blunt with the BinL and ask him what he changed. If you don't have a tach on your boat, best get one cause your gonna need it. Also get a Force service manual, Clymers or Seloc cuz this is gonna be like adjusting an atomic clock, to much either way and you gonna end up way off. You should be somewhere around 5500 rpm at max throttle. After you adjust it correctly, throw the BinL overboard and drag him around the lake for few hours by his feet. That will teach him!:devil:
