i'm sure theres a forum that explains this but i can't find it, any help finding the page or explanation would be great thanks

Post your model#. Link and sync varies from motor to motor.

You really need a manual to do it right, Ryan.

The "linkage" part gets the linkage of all carbs exact, then the "synchronization" part gets the throttle and ignition to start at the right place and advance together to maximum.

Every year of every model differs at least a little bit from every other. You need the manual, or, of course, you could pay a wrench $90 and hour to do it for you.

The OEM Manual, www.outboardbooks.com, costs a lot less than that and you never pay for it again. . . forever.
