I really like gentlemen doing all those gentlemanly things,but I don't expect them(opening doors, tipping hats,opening my door, all that,etc.). I really show my appreciation! <br />Bassy

A guy as in boyfriend or hubby does those things to get his lady to show her apreciation sometimes.

well my hair is mostly gone and i rarely wear a hat. even in the winter. if i am ice fishing then i will have a hat on. but just bumming around i never wear a hat. god made a few perfect heads, the rest he covered with hair! and i feel i should not cover up one of his better pieces of work.

I do not care what people think of my hat. I do not care whether they like the fact that I wear it indoors or not. My hat, my head. Take off your own hat. Do NOT mess with my hat, and tend your own business. When my hat goes over to you and hurts you, pesters you, or tries to pick your pockets, let me know and I will deal with it sternly. My hat is very well behaved and does not bother other people. Those who claim it does are being busybodies.

He!! JTx your from here you know. when you pass a lady walking down the sidewalk, you reach up and slightly tip your hat up and back down and say howdy mam. If extremely good looking and looks intrested, you might try removing it and holding it over your throbbing heart an saying, Pardon me mam hows chances of you and I getting a little sack time. this is gauranteed to get the blood flowing in one side of your face.

I don't tip my hat when passing women on the street, and always remove my hat when indoors. I do hold the door for anyone behind me and always allow a woman to go first.<br />I am impressed at the number of younger people (teen age and young adults) that hold the door for me. (I am an able male senior citizen.)<br /><br />About that other lid, I always lift the seat for watering because even the best hose has some stray droplets, and when I am finished I always close the lid to help contain odors and prevent things from accidently falling in.<br /><br />There is no room in any language for me to describe what I think of people that don't insure there waste & seat covers are properly flushed. If a public facility malfunctions, I remove the top of the tank and place it over the commode.

Since having kids the only restaraunts we go to is McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King. They do not rate removing my hat. Plus we always sit under the vent and my head gets cold easier these days.<br /><br />On the rare occasion we go out to a better eating establishment then I remove it as soon as we get to our table.<br /><br />I don't tip my hat to the ladies. I show respect in other ways. <br /><br />As for the toilet lid always down. Seat always down unless I am going #1. The kids make this necessary. barbies don't flush.<br /><br />It also looks better closed. Plus studies have shown that droplets from a toilet as it flushes can be projected up to 10 feet. That is just nasty.

I was raised to be an old school gentleman, even to the point of walking between a lady companion and the street (to shield her from spray and splashes from passing vehicles).<br /><br />I usually wear a hat. I don't always raise it to a lady, but I do touch it and I do salute people in uniform, including cops.<br /><br />I usually remove it indoors IF THERE IS A PLACE TO PUT IT. If there is no hatrack in a restaurant I often keep it on.<br /><br />heycods didn't offer an option that fits so I didn't vote.

Lest folks get the impression that I am some kind of rebel (well...maybe I am, somewhet), or worse yet, barbarian, I do indeed place high value on manners that really matter...like not peeing all over the place in public restrooms, holding doors open for others, being conscious of others' need to pass through the grocery aisle, and the like. Those things really do matter.<br /><br />The hat thing just seems way too silly and superficial, and of no real value.<br /><br />I really like to use italics...anyone notice that?
