I have a 1994 baja islander 188 with a 5.0 liter merCruiser and when it is in the water and the trim is completely down it lets in water but enough to where if you keep the bilge pump running the water isn’t significant enough to sink the boat but if it is trimmed up at all it begins to over fill. I’m not sure what if could be any help would be appreciated.

First guess is shift cable bellows

Could also be u joint bellows

this would be my first guess as well. bellows need attention, and before it gets any worse..... if you have a leak now, you are a bilge pump failure away from a VERY bad day

Sounds like a torn or disconnected bellows to me too....easy to look for and see when you have the boat out of the water. definitely want to fix it before it causes a real issue for you.
