That's odd. In Hi-School we tested the theory on a few 'borrowed' VW's that they'd float.

And they did too, but we never got them to where the tail lites were under, or filled with water.

Except one. It floated off so far that we just had to shoot holes in it so it'd finally sink.

Anyway:
I think you need to make sure # 1 daughter knows how to properly slam the door on her VW so it seals and latches down tight enough so that it can float properly.

Then you can spend more time getting your boat in the water, and less time on trivial things like her car. [/QB]
I'm workin on it as fast as I can WE. Some things just take time to do right. I can't believe how much time I'm spending on it. How many times I've crawled in and out of it. How many little cups of resin I've mixed. How many times I've measured and cut, measured and cut. Gee whiz, this has been going on for months now. But the end is in sight. I'll have a whole slew of pictures to post soon.

As to the daughter's tail lights, I think that rain water is sucked in by vacuum. I sealed all the small visible cracks in the assembly but every time we turned around, there was an inch of water sloshing around in the tail lites.

Some LEd trailer lights are sealed, others aren't. If you but a kit it will include the license plate bracket and light. You may have to buy the clearance and 80" center light seperately.

The actual LEDs are sealed and cannot be damaged by water but the circuit board with the resistor(s) in a non-sealed unit will be damaged eventually if repeatedly imersed in salt water.

Re: led trailer lights

The L.E.D. lights themselves are sealed and do not have a filiment and do not generate heat like a standard incandescent bulb. Therefore, no heat cracks or burned bulbs when backing the trailer into the water. The lamp housings which hold all of the LED's (you need several leds to equal one normal bulb) may or may not be water proof...read the descriptions. so you may need to drill a drain hole into the bottom to let water drain. LED's are available in a variety of colors including light blue (similar to white) which can be used for a license plate light.

I've seen replacment LED lights in Wallyworld of about 6 bucks, but they dont have a "bottom light" for a tag! How about side markers? I go from fresh water in the summer to salt water in the winter and have to replace standard "innards" about every two years. Any advice is appreciated.

Waterone1
In my state "blue" lights are reserved for law enforcement. You get a ticket for impersonating an officer.
