well my reasons for changing is more about durability, the set that i am replacing is optronics incandescent when i got my present boat 6 years ago i went though ever thing it was a Kentucky trailer so the lights didnt work at all and i was missing fishing time :D so i grabbed a set at advance and hit the lake and after 6 years one of the rear side marker bulbs is out, not complaining about that, just that the newer LEDS will last longer and yes a bit brighter all ways helps and being as i was re building my trailer why not

the lights made it in today and i got them installed but the 1/4 carrage bolts nuts and flats are plain plated hard wear so tomorrow i will make a run for stainless, other than that its good their real bright so seeing them in full sunlight should be easy, thats my main reason to change

I decided that a $20 submersible incandescent from O'Reillys was a better deal than a $65 sealed protronics from etrailer. Thanks goodness because I munched both of my lights three weeks later. $20 and I was back in action.

I bought LEDs at O'Reilly's to replace my incandescents. Not very expensive and they are much, much brighter. Installation was about as easy as can be - pop out the old lights, pop in the LEDs. Easy. Inexpensive.

the install took about 15 minutes per side and i even soldered them and i used PVC tape instead of shrink wrap, i like tape because its more padding

yes thats what i replaced, i have noticed a lot of the newer trailers with LED are plain easer to see during the day time and i have been doing a rebuilt so it was more of a case of why not up date

I'm rebuilding too. Munched them backing up in the gravel lot. Some of them are really bright which would be nice but generally speaking I don't miss a 7' wide boat stopped in my lane so I passed on the extra $40 to help out the guy that's going to run into me. If the $60 wasn't a factor I'd have bought LED though.

Had 2 sets of optronics, one set was junk, lots of dead less in a year.
The second set ( the good one) are starting to lose led's now.

Had a set of blazers, good, but sold the trailer 4 months later.

Got a set of Wesbar, about $90, they have been great for 5 years.

wesbar is what i had, and i think thats OEM on most trailers, my set was 45 through amazon, so far the lack of stainless hard wear and the wires were a gage or two smaller is the only thing i have noticed and i am sure the wire gage is due to the smaller current draw, i will have a picture tomorrow, it was to hot for me to be out side long today, i drilled a hole in the light bracket and wire tied the loom at the end of the new light to stabilize it

if you have a moment take a look at my rebuild thread, the paint mix is spot on for a glass finish with a brush a and roller and a special thanks to GM 280 and Wooden Glass for the help,

my trailer is 102 wide, 8 1/2 feet x 28 long so any help is nice and most of my tows is on interstate, or like the trip i am planning Monday its going to have about 10 miles of broken pavement, road slips, and it looks like a bunch of WZS all hooked together, typical WV mountain back roads, we have rented a cabin for a few days
