Re: LED Lights

I use the Perco underwater LED on the sportfish (about $270 each). They have covers for them in blue and red. On the color spectrum, red is easier for eye adjuctment, then blue, then white. We use them at night for swardfishing the ocean (red) and at the dock for attracting baitfish (white). which in return attracts gamefish. Blue for the mermaids and cocktails.

They attract fish too??? And here I thought they were only good for drawing in semi intoxicated scantily clad women!:D

Sasto, did you have to attach those to a transformer/head unit or can they run on straight 12 volt current off of a switch? Also, how do they do in somewhat murky water?

The blue is for scantly clad women.....No transformer needeed, 12v.switch is fine. Depending on the lumens you choose will determine how well they work in murky water. I chose 85 lumens which light up the clear ocean and work very well in the murky intercoastal. The lights run on anything from 10 volt to 32 volt. I wired them to 12 first then to 24 (vessel has both) and I didn't notice hardly any difference. They came with red and blue coverplates which are interchangeable.

I used rope LED lights on the sides. You can ored them ant length you need and for 2 9 foot runs cost me $40 bucks. I did not want a lot of light just a little glow to light up the area. Here is how it looks.

Re: LED Lights

I'll post a pic later, but I replaced the white courtesy cockpit lights with purple LEDs. You know what I'm missing now? BUGS!

I didn't realize it, but they were attracted to the white lights. I'm out at night now with the soft LED light and not a single mosquito! I don't know if it's the LED or the color, but what a difference!

Fireman431 - I did the same but with blue. I can't say that I intentionally did it for the bugs...more because I thought it would look cool.

Oh yeah, and to attract scantily clad women!!! So far it has only attracted my wife who was not scantily clad at the time, so the jury is still out...
