pulled my alpha one g2 today and had some sludge come out of where the shifter sticks out of the bell housing. Leaky shift bellows?

Does the area where the sleeve that grabs the outdrive linkage from the bell housing take on water normally? Seems like there’s no gasket keeping water out

Nope,.... It's a rather snug fit, which don't usually leak,....

I use opposin' zip-ties, rather than the provided crimp-ring,....

'n if you insist on the trim limit, 'n trim sender workin', I suggest ya change them as well,....
The wires tend to rot off,.....

Wound up getting it out......I drilled a hole thru it then used a piece of 1/4x 20 threaded rod to extract! Wish I could post a pic from my I phone for others to see.....every time I try to post a pic the file is too big
