When checking the oil on a Mercury 115 HP, I noticed that the oil was milky. When trying to drain the oil, I noticed that the oil drain plug was not holding well and that the thread was gone. Could it be the reason for the water mixing into the oil? Thanks for your help.

Welcome aboard.

I'm assuming your are talking about a 4 stroke motor crankcase drain. Probably not unless the drain plug is submerged while running the boat and I hope not.

If your talking about the lower unit, then yes, the leaking plug can cause milky oil oil.

So, 4 stroke or lower unit?

Yes it is the 4 stroke motor crankcase drain. I was just checking the level when I saw that the oil was milky and that I saw that the drain plug was not holding properly. So, the boat had been on the water 3 times since the oil was previously changed. The motor was run fine. Today I bought an slightly oversized plug and will change the oil and the filter. Any other suggestion?
