Metal omc tank. Cleaned inside really well replaced gaskets. Now it’s leaking in multiple places I’m not sure why. Pretty simple process, not sure where I went wrong.

It is "leaking" from the place where the fuel comes out. When you connect the fuel line, that plunger unseals the tank, allowing the fuel to flow into the fuel line. I do not know if there are repair kits for the fitting itself.

Yes! I guess the plunger isn’t sealing anymore when the tank isn’t connected. This is new since I cleaned the fitting itself.

You could buy a new connector and put it on the fitting when not using the tank. Simply plug the fuel nipple on the new connector. That could seal the tank.

Pop it off and connect the fuel line when you want to use the fuel in the tank.

Repaired a couple of those back in my younger days. There are O ring kits where a seal was pryed out in the back and new O rings were replaced and the seal was tapped back in to seal the plunger. If leaking from under the unit, then your gasket was damaged from install or the surface had some rough areas to prevent the gasket from sealing.

I don’t think gasket was damaged, but it is leaking under the unit. I cleaned all the old paint and lightly sanded both tank and unit to get proper seal. Could I add some compound to help seal it is this going to make it worse?

Ayuh,.... The o-ring seal on the outlet is leaking, no compound is going to change that, you need the o-ring,....

Sure, buy the repair kit and do it right.

Or,.....in the mean time leave the hose attached to the tank, but not attached to the motor.

I always unplug the fuel line from the motor when done. If there is a leak, I want to see/ smell the fuel so I can fix the issue. Leaving a fuel line plugged in to the motor can cause issues, if fuel hose has any pressure built up.

Yes, of course, that's OB Motor 101. It's also advisable to let the motor run when it's unplugged to drain "most" of the gas out of the carb.

The suggestion was to leave the fuel line plugged into the tank. The unplugged fitting at the motor end has a ball check valve that will stop a leak. Your tank fitting is leaking, not the hose fitting.

I might need a second gasket under my fuel outlet. That wouldn’t shock me at all. Once again y’all have been super helpful. I’ll order the kit and replace the o rings. I’m sure YouTube video somewhere.

Second gaskets are not the norm. Maybe your tank is dented at the fitting place.

If it were me I'd buy a new tank.
