Leaking from...weepholes???

I have a leak coming from each side where these holes are. The one in the picture right below the bolt. Is this normal? What fluid is it? Where can I check the levels and out more in? I'm new to boating including servicing so any help will be greatly appreciated.

If its oil you have a leak and the res bottle would be showing low.
Your drive is a alpha gen ii type
