A friend bought a Jetski as a project, unlike most people I know who pick up projects. He completely rebuilt the engine and got it working very well. We brought it to a quite boat launch so we could avoid the crowd. It has a drizzle size leak in that would not pose a problem for a bilge pump, though it would be best if we got it fixed. After repeated launches and drains, we finally noticed where the leak was coming from. It seems to be coming from the port side where there was some hull damage that was patched in a couple of places. I also see a few spots where where the gelcoat was chipped away showing the glass fibers. I am unsure how much of a leak this would cause. I would upload a photo, but I am at work right now.

In any case I told him to take it home, remove the patch (looks like jb-weld or something) with a dremmel. Then use Marine Tex to patch the couple of gouges. This thing is a bit beat up, though he said it was faster than he was comfortable. If he fixes this, he still has to replace the trim motor and put a new bilge pump in there. The pump is now a higher priority, because of this leak.

Chipped gelcoat will not leak water inside through the exposed fiberglass, exposed glass can slowly absorb water (in very very small amount over long time) and lead to blisters in the gel. You need to get that fixed but it is not the source of the water leak. Post pictures of the damaged area, depends on the damage, patching with epoxy fillers might not be the best course of action.

He put some water inside the ski and saw it leaking out under one of the bunks ><

He needs to find an easy & safe way to remove the ski from the trailer to work on it.
