well i recently had my shift cable boot replaced on my 86 alpha one, mechanic said that it was the only noticeable problem on my outdrive bellows. so i take the boat to the ramp yesterday and i back it in just to make sure the problem was fixed, and well its still leaking from somewhere. any ideas? i couldnt really tell where it was leaking from yesterday, i guess im gonna call the mechanic back tomorrow and see when he can look at it. i just wanted to see if any of you guys might know what it could be. thanks for all the help

ive had the boat about a month and it leaked the first time i took it out, i told the mechanic to check the bellows and he said that the shift cable bellow had a hole the size of a thumb in it. so he replaced that and said it was good to go, now this happend, guess ill just see when i can take it back, thanks for the reply.

did he replace the other bellows at the same time ? the shift cable ? If he didn't even suggest it to you, I think it's time to replace the mechanic. just my opinion.

All the labor, for one shift bellows? Just do it all, cable too. Your gonna get nickle and dimed to death! Probably the transom anyways, check the plate tightness, maybe any gaps around it?

If the bellows were never replaced since 1986, it's probably time to re-do them all, including the shift cable bellows and cable as Failproof already mentioned. While doing that, check the bearing, make sure it's nice and smooth and well greased as well as the ujoints.

It's easier if you have a second set of hands and don't forget a few special tools that you will need.
